eco-friendly ways to save money

Aren’t you tired of buying shampoos and shower gels in big plastic packagings, only to create more and more waste? Moreover, most of the beauty and health products for your bathroom consist of one too many artificial and damaging ingredients. Which might end up in harming our skin. Let’s pause for a moment and reconsider the purpose of mindlessly buying all the things we don’t need, and instead rather create our own, DIY bathroom essentials!

Check out these five eco-friendly ways to save more money in your bathroom.

1-Use a safety razor.

A safety razor is a fantastic product, and we are quite surprised it hasn’t been used more in the last decades. The product is made from stainless steel, so even if something happens to it, it is still fully recyclable. Therefore environmentally friendly. Not only it is harmless to the planet, but it is also protective to our skin since it consists of a protective device positioned between the edge of the blade and the skin. In the long run, safety razor will make you save a lot of money in comparison to buying disposable razors all the time.

2-Make your own eco-friendly DIY mouth wash.

Mouth hygiene is one of the most critical aspects of our health, so maintaining clean teeth should be our number one priority. There are plenty of different ways of making your eco-friendly mouth wash. The goal is to keep it as natural as possible. You can use herbs, such as tea tree oil and peppermint leaves, mixing it into distilled water with baking soda.

3-Make your own DIY bath bomb and say goodbye to plastic.

Bath bombs are like the candy of the bathroom! They are vibrant in colours and of fantastic smell. From now on, you don’t need to spend tens of dollars in fancy skincare boutiques anymore, because you can make them by yourself! You only need simple ingredients: baking soda, salt, corn starch and citric acid, mixed with olive oil, essential oil of your choice (oh all the good smells out there!). And a few drops of food colouring to make your bath look like a unicorn’s paradise!

4-Make your own DIY castile soap.

Lately, soap is mostly available only in plastic wrappings, but luckily, there are many easy ways to make your DIY homemade handwash! Try castile soap, for you can easily store it in a glassy container. This way, it will be wasteless and also very cheap to do it. For making one batch, you will need 24 oz olive oil, 16 oz coconut oil, 8 oz potassium hydroxide lye flakes and distilled water. You will need to blend it all, cook it to a paste and then let it refine in water.

5-Use a bum gun or a bamboo toilet paper.

If you traveled to Asian countries before, you probably appreciate the utility of a bum gun. A bum-cleaning machine, attached to your toilet, allowing you to clean yourself after doing your business. It is way more cost-effective, hygienic and sustainable than toilet paper. Alternatively, you can switch to bamboo toilet paper, which is much quickly degradable than regular rolls made of pulp.

You can Save money in your kitchen as well!
